i'm a vocalist/composer/lyricist from Bombay,
now in Chicago. In Bombay, i trained in Carnatic classical music, while always being deeply interested in Jazz, Rock, innovative and experimental music of all kinds. (i have to say though that Brazilian music speaks to me like no other, and i hope to be born in Brazil in an upcoming life. Until then, i'll have to deal with my inexplicable longing through my music.)

In the US, i've had the good fortune to collaborate, record, perform, learn from and travel with noted musicians and dancers in Chicago and NYC. Working with them to explore diverse traditions as well as free improvisation has led to a recording project to give voice to my journey so far... i'm thrilled to say that i've just released Seven Blue Seas!!!

:: my Chicago group featuring esteemed musicians Neal Alger (Guitar), Tony Barba (Saxes), Patrick Mulcahy (Bass), Robert Tucker, Jr. (Drums).

:: the Matt Geraghty Project, with whom i've performed in Brazil & Portugal, at the Chicago Jazz Festival 2007 as well as noted clubs in NYC like Smalls and the Blue Note.

:: Las Guitarras de España, in their Flamenco-based World Music and Dance production Music&Movement, and the critically acclaimed Unraveling Rhythms in collaboration with dancers Wendy Clinard and Siri Sonty.

:: Ritwik Banerji Quintet, with whom i've performed at Chicago improvised music venues, and at the Asian American Jazz Festival 2009 at the Velvet Lounge.

:: i am also member of the Brown Rice Collective of improvising musicians.
